When I first heard about land in Middleboro being sold to build a casino, I was scared. I don't live in Middleboro but I know the problems a casino creates aren't going to stop short at the town border. So I went down to a meeting at the town hall where an attorney, an expert in tribal law, was telling everybody that it was all over. Give up. Sign on the dotted line. Then I got really scared. So I got on the Internet and read all about the effects Indian gambling casinos have on surrounding communities. Then I was downright terrified.
I became the first non-resident member of CasinoFacts.org, a grassroots organization formed by Middleboro residents who felt the same as I did.
Some of what I've heard and seen while fighting a casino is pretty hard to believe. But then no one believed Gladys Kravitz, either.
