Pah-Leeeze...

There are still the vocal few. Former selectman Adam Bond has been critical of the board in recent months for refusing to try to renegotiate with the tribe. He resigned in January as a result of this conflict and has continued to vocalize his dissatisfaction on his blog. "The whole ability for them to make lemonade out of this lemon is gone," he said of the board recently. "The deal is sputtering."

Stephanie, please. Stop encouraging him.

Adam Bond resigned in January because he could no longer manipulate the Board do whatever he wanted them to do, whenever he wanted them to do it.

He resigned because he saw the writing on the wall and wanted to distance himself from it.

He resigned because he was losing control and proceeded to have an ego meltdown.

He resigned because he wanted to play the victim.

His resignation wasn't noble. It was a hissy fit.

Bond only wanted Middleboro to renegotiate with the Tribe because it finally dawned on him what an embarrassing hack job of an IGA he'd so proudly negotiated and signed in the first place. When he perceived an opening to repair his public image, he jumped on it.

If he'd really wanted to help Middleboro and repair the IGA, he would have stayed on the Board where he could have actually done something about it - despite his personality issues with the other members.

As far as remaining critical of the Board - it's only because he can't get the usual suspects to do it for him - by endlessly harassing and attempting to intimidate them over the Internet, the air waves or by other means - like back in the good old days.

And, as for making lemonade out of a lemon - the time for that was back in the Summer of 2007 when he could have ceased dividing the town, angering the region and canoodling behind the scenes with Glenn Mashall, casino investors, and anyone else he thought could help his career.

"Vocal few?" Bond is just vocal. Period. And everything he does is for himself.

So please... please stop giving the ultimate opportunist a platform to reinvent himself so he can do it all again.

Good Grief Charlie Brown...is A-Bomb STILL slithering around Mboro???

What DOES HE DO ALL DAY?

Gladys, ya hit the nail smack on the head when you listed all of the reasons he made his dramatic exit from the BOS.

His touch is less than Midas..which is turning out to be a Bond family curse.

Just Google his brothers name, and you will get the gist.

Everything these guys touch turn to rust...Mboro and the casino is just one example of the Bond fickle fingered, hair brained business deal at work. If Stephanie is looking for more fodder to write about, she only has to look as far as the internet....it's all there.

Bored, bored, bored! said...

His schtick is boring the town. Let's move on!
There is NO CASINO to resurrect, renegotiate, reinvigorate, reinvent, rediscover.
2 Supreme Court decisions later that have declared this a DEAD DEAL and not a DONE DEAL, Steve McKinnon got it right when he talked about Plan B. Time to move on!

Gladys Kravitz said...

Exactly.

The IGA is just another excuse Bond uses to pretend he gives a hoot for Middleboro, while poking the remaining board members with his little red pitchfork in an attempt to make them look worse than he does by comparison.

Move on, Middleboro. (One would hope to better, smarter leadership...)

You said it, Gladys because that's what I was thinking when I read the article.
Bond never finishes anything he starts after he promotes himself, adds it to his resume and walks away.

Is he still hold court at the Honey Dew? Is he drawing crowds?

From what I have read in the past, Stephanie Vosk always seemed to write good stories, quoted authorities on a topic. Quoting Bond? He's nobody except major ego paying for a radio show no one listens to. The radio show exposes how dumb he is.

What a self-important, pompous ..... some people just won't go away quietly. Did he expect adulation after his hissy fit? He worked to get the current makeup of the board elected. How can he criticize?

braying mule said...

People have forgoten how disruptive Bonds presence was on the Board. He went into lengthy monologues adding to the length of the meetings. He insulted Tom Calter because of his casino position which when he explained it,I thought made a lot of business sense.Calter said that a cost analasis needed to be done which never was.The school comitee and superintendant got behind this project before their was even an agreement. He insulted casino oponants so dont ever expect my vote,Bond!Dont think I'll fogret being called a braying mule.

The first poster made a comment about Charlie Brown. Remember the rest of the song? "That Charlie Brown. He's a clown." How appropriate.

If he was quiet long enough some of us might forget the stupid things he did.Lemonade? He created the lemons.Gladys, you got him right from Day 1.

Funny how Bond is now voicing opposition and declaring he just might turn anti-casino.

Good thing he waited for all signs to point to the casino deal being dead before making such a rash decision as considering becoming anti-casino.

Now when the tribe walks away from the deal, Adam can come out as being staunchly anti-casino.

Way to go Adam. There's nothing like waiting for the dust to settle before picking which side you're going to be on. I guess with his unique hindsight he can always pick the winning side.

Glady's, Smoking Owl, comments all, YOU GOT IT RIGHT when it comes to, nothing is more dear to me than me, Adam Bond.

His future in Middleboro will always be remembered for his past behavior, insulting comments, and unbecomming behavior to the residents on both sides of the issue. He is an insult to all.

Hissy fit was his parting theatrical, but unfortunately, not last scene.

Adam Bond if your listening, I have never advocated war, except as a means of peace. (Ulysses S. Grant).
Leave Middleboro in peace. You have nothing left to do in this town, you are now just making the divide wider and harder to repair.

As the first poster said, it runs in the family.

Yikes, the Bonds screwed up a store that sells baby clothes! Good grief, Charlie Brown is right!!

Dear Anon. 11:59, let's focus on the Bond in question please. This blog is about casinos and the people that love them. Not about their family members. I allowed the comment because I believe "our" Bond is the attorney for the organization mentioned in the link you provided.

opportunity lost said...

hindsight being 20-20, some of us can look back and recognize that when Bond was presented with an opportunity to lead -- as in real leadership -- he opted instead to divide the town, support an out of town mudslinger who is now bankrupt and out of business and he fostered venom and animosity needlessly.Running again for office?Fat f... chance!A good look in the mirror is needed.

Of all of the casino suporters, Bond was the most critical of those who spoke oout against the agreement. When chalenged about needing a town meeting vote,he threw a hissy fit and made the town get a 2nd opinion because he believed himself to be the supreme leader.Big ego?It defies description!

When you read enough books, most of the plots become predictable. What is reveling itself is hugs and kisses with cfo to prepare for another run for ofice.I will run a "vote for Mickey Mouse" sticker campagn before I would make the misteak of voting for Bond ever again.
When he caled me a braying mule or braying donkey, he burned his bridges with me.
It was a stupid coment made by a stupid man who was too stupid to apologise for any stupid thing he's done.

Wa's with this?I thought he moved out of the 'boro????He still hear?

I attended that BOS meeting and was speechless when Bond walked out. It was a childish tantrum that you're correct in describing as you have.

Only his opinion matters?
What else is new?

If Miss Vosk had done her homework, she might understand that the agreement Middleboro signed with the Tribe was included in the application with the BIA. Any "re-negotiation" would require a new application. Any new application would come under "new" rules which means both Carcieri and Hawaii. Unless and until Congress amends the rules there will be no Land In Trust Land, meaning no reservations. No casino investors are pursuing new casino ventures, some are filing bankruptcy as Twin River is, and no sane investor is pursuing Indian Casinos because any future casino is remote at best. Not only would it require an act of Congress, but might also require an act of God. Look at all of the states that signed on to those 2 cases. How many congressmen would oppose their own governors? The Mashpee Wampanoags have to repay how much? Isn't it millions? Bond needs to do some research before he spouts off. Since he's never done it before, I don't expect any miraculous change.

Someone needs to tell this man to shut up. We need to stop talking about this person who has no roots and doesn't know what it means to care about the town we live in.

Gladys Kravitz said...

I agree. Why does he keep getting in the news? Because he's "colorful"? I suppose that's it. The same people are always quoted - like Clyde Barrows and others on either side. Same quote, different day. Too bad the media didn't feel it was worthy to quote those of us who had something refreshing to say like IT AIN'T COMIN! and why, all along.

But heck, maybe all's well that ends well - because Middleboro's continued 'ignorance' just brought the Wampanoag 'free money' total up to a cool million.

Crazy like a fox, Middleboro! Crazy like a fox...

;~)

If you read the whole article, Stefanie quotes a Selectman who stalked off in a snit and a former Selectman who helped negotiate a deal behind closed doors that cheated the town. That former Selectman won a recent election to be town moderator, a position not usually contested, but he only won by 50 votes.
Middleboro voters are finally figuring it out. Stefanie needs to do the same. There are 14,000 other people to call and ask for their opinions. Try one of them and you'll get more than lemons.

Gladys, 11:59 here. Casino aside, Adam has tied himself to Mboro, and brings a family legacy of failure to this town whether we like it or not. As long as Adam Bond lives in Mboro, he will not be content to stand in the shadows and be a wallflower. People need to understand that fact. And as the Casino continues to fade from reality, Adam will find another issue to latch onto and rise like steam from a bog. I fully appreciate and understand your admonition and do not take issue with your "wanting to set the record straight as to the topic of this blog", except to note that some of us still believe that there is some sort of connection between Adam and the gambling syndicate in Detroit, which I may add also includes his brother.

Anonymous said...

"The deal is sputtering"? What does this mean? He negotiated a deal with a felon. The Tribe wants out before they lose there land because they elected a felon. Everyone was dumb enough to follow. It's more than sputtering. It's dead.

People, please take the time to re-read the two years worth of A-Bomb's conflicting doublespeak so copiously documented by Gladys. Reinvent himself?. A leopard doesn't change his spots. It always remains on the prowl seeking those too naive to recognize its predatory intentions. Middleboro politics is just a vehicle for his attempt to gratify his ravenous appetite for fresh bait. Remember the TMFH? We let him chew us up once and spit out the bones. Don't give him a second chance.

Remember this Mr. Bomb: You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all of the time. Go sell your snake oil elsewhere. We've gotten wise to your little shell game.

We stopped going to Honey Dew because every time we went in he was "holding court." There's only so much you can take. They don't miss our business and we don't miss the ego.

Smoking Owl said...

Why is it that Middleboro's political has-beens are always quoted in the press as if they are still a vital presence to our town's administration?

Adam Bond, Wayne Perkins, Lincoln Andrews, who wants to hear from them? Strange to say, but the only one with enough sense(so far) to keep his mouth shut is good ol' "Cheap Seats" himself.

Since when does the town moderator of any town provide interviews and press quotes on town matters?

Gladys,
The holiday has allowed catch up time for us and find this article disturbing.
Apparently, Mboro will never be done with this fool.
One can only hope that he runs for office again and recieves the burial at the balot box he deserves. We're ready to campaign for his oponent.
Mr. Bond was a liability on the Board and became worse as his ego grew.
The Board may not be perfect now, but the meetings conclude business with each member having their say, not one member monopalizing the conversation and insulting people.
We dont always have time to watch all of the meetings when there on but we atend some and watch others later in the week. The 2 new members have improved the Board. Now we need 3 more new members.

Anonymous said...

We citizen watchdogs just need to keep close tabs on everything going on in this town.

The people who were first fooled by Bond and the pro casino faction can not let it happen a second time. It is up to the good people of this town to keep informed, attend meetings, and to spread the word about candidates and issues of concern.

Adam Bond was able to pull the wool over the eyes of many because people basically fall for a con-job every time.

I agree with the poster who said that reporters need to pound the pavement and widen the circle of interest, to dig deep for the full story.

Nocasino said...

We have not received the truth from Mr Bond from the beginning.

Don't expect it now.

Finally I believe people are seeing the truth for themselves.

Thanks to you Gladys.
