Wonderful news. This isn't the beginning of the end. It's the end of the end.

Merry Christmas Gladys!!

The only way this could be any better would be to have the Middleboro BOS, CRAC, and all the other dimwits in Middleboro who support this "invetibale casino" to go down with him. Marcia and Adam top my list given their abhorrent behavior and complete disdain for any option that is not theirs. CAN"T WAIT for Scottie Fearsome's spin on this...

It truly is a beautiful day in Middleboro!!

Regards,
Kristen

And Lakeville leaps for joy. Merry Christmas to all and to all no casino!

Well said!
Merry No Casino Christmas, to all!
One might anticipate more indictments, ya think? Abramoff sure hand his little hands in bunches of other things.

As I said in my blog, the real story is the plea agreement.

Marshall has agreed to sing loudly on anything and everything. The agreement, which I've red, basically says that Glenn will tell all and understands that he is f*cked if he is not completely forthcoming.

Anyone who did anything shaky is potentially on the menu. Personally I wouldn't expect to see much action in Middleboro. I would like to see the sale of the land fully investigated for one thing. That was the number one SUSPICIOUSLY STUPID thing that was done. Beyond that I'm not sure how much actionable stuff exists. Probably some small potato stuff that I can't see the Feds going after.

I'm sure Glenn has a lot to say about the Middleboro affair - it's just a matter of whether or not anybody cares to ask him.

"The information said that Marshall, “in order to disguise the fact” of the contributions, “solicited various individuals to act as straw contributors, including members of his family and officers of the tribal council.” Marshall then directed those individuals to write checks to the legislators' reelection committees, the documents say."

More indictments will be coming. What a corrupt bunch. A recognition only money can buy.

So let me get this straight. Is everybody saying the casino deal is awash in corruption? Middleboro isn't getting 7 million dollars? Sounds like the way Glenn Marshall was throwing money around, it wouldn't surprise me if some of it didn't end up in the pockets of the former town manager and current members of the BOS. How many Tribal Council members will be left standing after Glenn gets done singing like a bird to the Feds? This should render the IGA null and void since the Tribe received recognition illegally in the first place. This should be interesting fodder for the BOS meeting.

Gladys, so much time and energy you put into these stories, (along with others, I know), but YOU have been holding court the longest! YOU WERE RIGHT, soooo RIGHT! You had all the right reasons for all the things you printed on your blogs!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember Mr. Healey, Mr. Bond, Mr. Perkins. and the rest of Middleboro's selectmen, when you lay down with dogs you get up with flea's! It's very apparent you did no homework on the casino issue and you had others that did and tried to "fill you in" with the "facts" but money and greed was your only guide, and because of that you made all the WRONG choices for Middleboro. SHAME ON ALL OF YOU!!

"I'm happy to see he is stepping up and taking responsibility for his part in any wrong doing and will move on.

I say and I'm probably going out on a limb here. Its just another needless obstacle to overcome for the Tribe. I still believe in the project, I feel our region needs it. I believe in the TRIBE!"

From a person in denial.

He obviously had not read the indictment. The case is still open and it involves other tribal council members helping Marshall give illegal campaign contributions. Who will be Marshall's Chuck Turner? This money was used to help get the tribe federal recognition.

Well...finally some truth is being revealed.

Amelia tried to tell the BOS how corrupt Glenn was WAY BACK at the beginning (she even handed Marcia a stack of documents on Glenn...it probably had all of this info in it and the BOS NEVER even bothered to read it...how pathetic).

I completely agree with Kristen.

The only thing that would be better would be to see Marcia and Adam go down with him...

Merry X-mas Gladys.

One other thing....

I'd like to know what the Middleboro BOS are going to say about signing an agreement with this HACK. Shouldn't they be forced to be accountable for their behavior?
They have some explaining to do as well....so LET"S HEAR IT!

Gosh, and here we were being bashed for saying the Tribe's Federal Recognition was bought and paid for by casino investors. Not only was the Tribe's recognition bought and paid for, it was bought and paid for specifically for building a casino....Gosh, I wonder if the US Attorney General will be called a racist too.

I, like Bumpkin would also like to learn more about the land sale, among other things. The indictment and plea are an interesting and extremely disturbing read. I feel bad for the Tribe members who are there because they believe in their heritage and want to preserve it. They were totally screwed over by their Tribal Leader, Tribal Council and favored members of the Tribe. Disgusting.

Merry Christmas Gladys, we made it through another year without a casino and it is begining to look alot like no casino at all!

A GREAT DAY!

Now hopefully they will get the rest of the crooks. Thanks Gladys!!

quoth the raven ... evermore. If I were some of his cadre (Shawn Hendrick and Gayle Andrews, specifically) I'd be shaking in my hush puppies plenty. Bumpkin has put a link to the plea agreement up on his blog. Yeeowwch. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, and the tribal members who placed their misguided faith in his leadership have my condolences. I do hope the rest of the council rescinds Ms. Bingham and family's "shunning" forthwith. It has no basis on which to stand, given the exposure of it's principal architect for what he is.

I'd like to tell Glenn Marshall not to worry about doing time in Federal prison. I hear they have an excellent work study program where he can learn to make...you guessed it...WIDGETS!

Anonymous said...

Gladys, I guess someone was listening. Thanks FBI, IRS (never thought I would write that) and Social Security.

After attending the "informational meeting" in the Spring of 06 where The Raven promised Middleborough residents the world, and called casino skeptics racists, I knew he was a creep.

Too bad our BOS didn't listen to Ameila Bingham. Shame on them, especially Adam Bond and Marcia Brunelle. I wonder if Adam will make another "I still trust him" statement, supporting Mr Marshall.

In the midst of this great news, Bellicose made a statement that made me shiver.

"I'm sure Glenn has a lot to say about the Middleboro affair - it's just a matter of whether or not anybody cares to ask him."

While we rejoice in being vindicated about our view of the casino and people such as Marshall, there are still huge questions to be answered. Will anyone question Marshall about Middleboro?

Will anyone ask him how this happened?

Who will be asking Marshall about the land deal here?

The casino deal got as far as it did here, because it was enabled by certain BOS. I think it all is a smelly stink, and all of "Ban" and "Secret" the in the world will not cover it up.

I wonder if we will ever learn "the rest of the story."

Nocasino said...

The BOS should be trying to kill this bad deal while they have a chance. This could be the last time they have an opportunity to correct the mistake they made by dealing with this criminal. Who was supposed to vet the players in this deal? Who negoiated this deal? Who is responsible for rushing into this deal without checking on the character of the principles?

The answer is the same for all of the above-the BOS. Shame on them for what I hope is ONLY incompetence.

daly said...

So far, this will be my greatest gift under the Christmas tree.. What a bunch of thieves. They (BOS)wouldn't listen. This would be a great story thou, for 20/20 or dateline. Bet they would dig deep and get the answers...

This man was a well prepared Con artist. Some of us recognized it when he accused a questioner at the Nichols Middle School of racism. Does anyone remember what the question was??? No! Because the accusation of racism was so emotionally charged and well crafted, you weren't supposed to remember that it was a fairly benign question. Glenn didn't vary from his script when he addressed the Chamber of Commerce breakfast. A benign question was asked that he was too stupid to answer, and he flamed the questioner with the same accusation.
His speech was canned and almost verbatim with his Nichols Middle School BS.
As they say you can fool all of the people some of the time ....
Time to take the blinders off and define the sleaze the BOS were dealing with ---NOT THE TRIBE, just those who were following the glitter of casino gold, lining their pockets, buying congressmen and conning their own membership.
The Mboro agreement stinks and the Tribe doesn't even know what's in their agreement. Have faith in Tribal Leadership? Think again! How many Tribes need to be outsmarted by Con Artists and Sleazy Investors for you to wake up and ask for details? Amelia Bingham did. Maybe it's time to un-shun her. She was right.

If this is just the tip of the iceberg the Middleboro BOS may look worse than they already do.

Anonymous said...

Hey Gladys, your blog was refered to in Cape Cod Times today.Check it out:"Tribe members saddened;shunned feel vindicated."seems CCT reporter Stephanie Vosk reads your comments.
From what I've been reading I predict the spin on this disaster for the pro casino folks will be to characterize Glenn as the one bad apple and that the Middleboro agreement was made in good faith with the tribe.what will be said after others are charged?
Merry Christmas friends!

I only wonder if Marcia Brunelle will appear at Glenn Marshall's interrogation when he starts spilling his guts to the Feds and try to gavel him to silence.

Oh Jacquie, I forgot about poor Mrs. Bingham. How rude the Middleboro selectmen were to let her stand at the mike in front of them for sooo long and ignored her, till, finally they had to recognize her as she didn't leave the mike till they did.

I was there and listened while she tried to tell them about Glen Marshall, and yes, they didn't listen. I hope someone will remind them of that "warning" today!!!!!

How stupid they were. How stupid they still are. But they keep getting re-elected! How stupid we, as a town look. We had the chance for some new faces, twice!! Shame on us/Middleboro!!

When will the BOS finally admit a mistake was made, and do the right thing.

Tear up the agreement, and tell the tribe to go back to Mashpee, They don't have anything we want.

Anonymous said...

The level of corruption within the tribe is astounding. Adam Bond is now doing damage control. At last nights selectman's meeting he lobbied to quickly get together with the tribe and hash things out. HASH WHAT OUT, WITH WHOM? Who, within the tribal council, can possibly be trusted? This is just a smoke screen for some sort of kiss and make up deal he will attempt to make with the tribe/investors while feigning some sort of concern for Middleborough. He will attempt to get the Board of Selectman to renew their vows with the investors and all will be hunky dorrie. It's time for the other BOS members to pull the plug on this rotten deal. Stop letting Adam lead you around by the nose. Do you really want corrupt casino interests running our town?????

Anonymous said...

The description of Glen Marshal as con man fits, but how do we describe the BOS and town mgr? Stooges?

Raymond Tolosko said...

Stooges?.....Nah...that's not the word that comes to mind...

Anonymous said...

anon 11:28 PM made a good point about who the BOS can negotiate with. The indictment of Glen was clearly negotiated over time, so he knew it was coming. Shawn must know the same, hence the silence.

Anonymous said...

Has there been any official statement from the Tribe regarding their Federal recognition being achieved illegally?

Gladys Kravitz said...

From Today's Cape Cod Times:

Despite Marshall's legal woes, Ferson said nothing has changed for the tribe.

"All the tribe can do is have proper procedures in place to address these issues when they come up. That's what good governments do and the government in this instance worked and reacted a year ago," he said of the tribal council's actions to force Marshall to resign.

Gayle Andrews, a spokeswoman for the tribal council, declined comment on Middleboro's concerns yesterday.

Same story, different day...

Now, now, Gladys,

Repeat after Scott -

the casino is inevitable,
the casino is inevitable,
the casino is inevitable.

Don't you see all of the construction jobs that have been created in the 18 months that it has taken to build the mega predatory gambling monster? And don't we all see how wildly profitable casino gambling has been across the country? (Stiffled laughter and snickers!)

Rumors are that Gayle Andrews will return to being African-American, a heritage that has more money makng potential than being Mashpee Wamponoag these days.

This is really so very sad. The town of Middleborough looks like a bunch fools.

Recent economic condition aside, try and sell your house now. Who would ever want to move to this town?

Gladys Kravitz said...

Anon. 11:38,

Please don't fear. It ain't com'in.

Good will win out.

That says much about the town - as well as the surrounding towns and the region.
